In July 2011, the FFC-NWT launched the Helping Children Soar Scholarship Fund.  It was started by generous donations from BHP Billiton and the Yellowknife Foster Family Association. Each year there will be two $500 scholarships available to NWT residents that grew up in foster care who are furthering their education. The fund is being administered by the Yellowknife Community Foundation.
